David Ornstein has confirmed that one right-back target is keen on joining Liverpool.
Liverpool might need to recruit for the right-back position this summer after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure from the club was confirmed.
The Englishman announced his decision to leave when his current deal expires in a few weeks on Monday.
His imminent departure means that the club will have to sign a right-back cover in the summer, especially considering that the current option for that role, Conor Bradley, is somewhat injury-prone.
Arne Slot is said to be a fan of the Northern Irishman.
However, his injury record suggests that he will not be able to bear the load of playing at the club’s only option at right back every week.
Several names have been linked, including Feyenoord’s Givairo Read and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
Both players are Dutch and are said to be on the club’s radar as potential summer signings.
Liverpool are said to have even initiated contact with Frompong, who is also said to be keen on leaving Leverkusen this summer.
David Ornstein has now confirmed that Liverpool is a club Frimpong will be desperate to join.
Speaking on Lioverpool’s search for a right back cover this summer, the journalist said:
“If they went with something different, something more multifaceted, there are players potentially on the market, like a Jeremie Frimpong.
He would be keen on a move to Liverpool if they decide to go down that route…”
Frimpong is known for his attacking prowess and versatility, capable of playing anywhere on the right flank.
His addition to Liverpool’s squad would not only bolster their defensive options but also add a new dimension to their attacking play.
